GD3X production; DIY scales; new distributors

GD3X Production

The manufacturer (BokTech) emailed this morning, confirming a few details about GD3X. The board on the left is the engineering sample I sent to them a few days ago. The board on the right is their first assembly test. They are confirming some substitutions for the connectors; we're all set to start the manufacturing run.

After the run has happened the parts will be tested and shipped to us here in California. Then final test and assembly will be done and we'll start shipping out the first orders. I know many of this newsletter's subscribers are waiting for the new Gameduino 3. Thanks for your patience, not much longer now!

Scales Update

Last week's scales made out of very cheap parts continue to work well. In fact if you ordered something from the Excamera Store or the Electric Dollar Store this week it was actually weighed on them.

There's a bit of simple math involved in the calibration and conversion routines. The sensor still drifts a little over time, but I believe that is typical for strain gauges like this one.

More ways to get I²CDriver and SPIDriver

Chinese (and worldwide) distributor SeeedStudio now carries both I²CDriver and SPIDriver. If anyone is interested in translating the documentation into Chinese, please hit reply and let me know. The same applies to German. I can offer a small bounty and a box of Excamera goodies.
